patterns

Quotes like "which I know about" pg (142) and "I gave myself a bruise" pg (69) show up very frequently throughout the book and I am wondering why Jonathan Safran Foer includes these random frases.

(Note from Proctor: every literary element we have been following is a pattern; if it didn't come up more than a couple times, it wouldn't be a significant part of this book. "What I know about" would be best discussed under Point of View, and "I gave myself a bruise" would be best discussed under Characters, or, more specifically, under Oskar.)
