Oskar is finding patterns in the map of buried treasure he's just made: "The dots from where I'd found things looked like the stars in the universe. I connected them, like an astrologer [...]" (10)
"I stared at the fake stars forever."(69)
Oskar is talking to his dad about how he feels that his life is relatively insignificant, but his dad convinces Oskar to believe that his life was very significant. "I stood on the bed, pointed my fingers at the fake stars, and screamed: 'I changed the course of human history!'" (86) This quote shows how Oskar views himself in relationship to the rest of the universe and how he deals with his feeling of insignificance.
