After Page 120 when we hear about Oskar's grandma she says all "I could see was this:" in her letter and then it is followed by three blank pages symbolizing that she is blind.

"I touched his schoulder. I can see, I said. Which is a stupid thing to say. My eyes are crummy, but I can see." (179) This line proves she is not blind, she just wanted attention.

"He took pictures of everthing. of the undersides of the shelves in the closet. Of the backs of the mirrors. Even the broken tihngs. The things you would not wan to remember. He could have rebuilt the apartment by taping together the pictures. And the doorknobs. He took a picture of every doorknob in the apartment." (175)

I find it interesting how rather than displaying the pictures where they fit into the story, the author decides to clump them together so that you have to flip through each one and figure it out. Also, a lot of the time the picture of the airplane comes up which shows that Oskar's father is always on his mind.

On page 205 there is a picture of a person jumping out of the Twin Towers. This symbolizes the fear and panic that his father and everyone else was going through when the plane hit.
